“TOWARDS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN MONGOLIA AND TURKEY” AN ACADEMIC CONFERENCE HELD IN ANKARA
Co-hosted by the Turkey and Middle East Public Administration Institute of Turkey and the National Academy of Governance of Mongolia, an academic conference on the threshold of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, was successfully held in Ankara on 14 May 2018.
The opening speeches of the conference were delivered by Prof. Dr. Onur Ender Aslan, General Director of Turkey and Middle East Public Administration Institute-TODAİE, Prof. Dr. Zulfikar Sarkit, General Director of the National Academy of Governance, Mr. Mehmet Erdoğan, Chair of the Turkey-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendly Group in the Turkey’s Parliament, H.E. Mr. Bold Ravdan Ambassador of Mongolia to Turkey, Ambassador Vural Altay, General Director of the Bilateral Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, respectively.
At the conference, academicians and researchers from academic institutes such as Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, National Intelligence Academy of Mongolia, Turkey’s Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), TIKA, Ministry of Economy, Akdeniz University, Hacettepe University, presented and discussed their research work covering all the areas of the current bilateral relations, such as history, security, education, economic and trade, cultural cooperation and possibilities of launching a study group for free trade agreement between two countries. The importance of the conference was to tackle the issues and challenges faced in the bilateral relations, in particular, economic and trade relations which has great potential for grow.
Mongolian traditional yurt “Ger”, a replica of the Bilge Khan monument in Mongolia were shown for display and a photo exhibition was set up with the assistance of the Embassy of Mongolia in Ankara during the conference
The conference was followed by a reception hosted by Ambassador of Mongolia H.E. Mr. Bold Ravdan at the Embassy.
The next round of this academic conference is to be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2019.
